All the synopsis' (or is that synopsi?) are sickening this month, but this one takes the cake:

We share a building with the local TAFE (community college0 and recently we've had problems with the public toilets. Folks keep doing yucky things in there (I'm not saying anything else - ick!), especially after school hours. so the decision was made to lock said toilets after 3pm and folks have to ask for the key. This doesn't please me much because it's us that's going to be asked, ad infinitum, for the key between 3pm and when we close, but I went along with it.

Anyway today the notices went up on the toilet doors saying they would be locked from 3pm. so at 2pm one of my customers comes and tells me there's pee in the foyer and yep sure enough there was! Obviously someone read the sign, couldn't tell the time and were desperate (?) and pissed up against the wall! It ran down the wall and across the tiles and guess who had to clean it up...?

Lately I've been slowly learning how to use my Paint shop program. Thanks to xx_squish_xx (The lovely squish is constantly badgered for help via email) for helping me initially and all those icon makers who answer my questions at the icon comms! :D

Despite the fact I still can't use the brush feature, I think I'm improving finally! Soon you will be subjected to an icon dump of all my attempts. Run and hide now! *grins* But right now I'm going to post a couple of banners from joss_stills and the icons to go with them.( Read more... )

In other news. I'm back at work after 2 weeks off and busier than ever. My new position and acquisition of new staff means a lot of re-arrangement for all concerned and it's Book Week as well this week. That means lots of story-reading/craft activities - thank god for bookishtype's creativity!!

that if something has pre-drilled holes, those holes might be actually be big enough to fit the items they've been drilled for???????

For I've been taking photos of my renovation attempts in the little guy's room and decided to take some of the outside of the house too. I like to keep a record of how the place looks etc.

I've been slowly doing up the little guy's room. I got the floor finished back early in July and finally! The bed, that I ordered in May, arrived at last! Yesterday...

Luckily I'm home for the last few days of a fortnight off, so I wasn't too put out to have to wait all day for the delivery guys to turn up. I was put out to find that the bed arrived in boxes and that I have to put it together. I can do it - but the point of buying the bed locally and from an actual furniture shop was so I didn't have to put it together.

The instructions are worse than Ikea hieroglyphics and not as extensive *sigh*. I really wanted to try working on fic today...

Be assured, you will have to look at photos of my renovations when they are finally finished! :D

This last weekend we were actually free of any committments. So of course we went to the beach. Saturday the little guy took his cast net and fished and I sat. I love sitting! Sunday we started practising for the upcoming surf season and went boarding. I fell off my board and nearly froze to death (it was at only about 70F 20C), but we had a great time.

The little guy has been busy with winter sport, meaning I've kept occupied hauling him around to soccer, surf club and athletics. Thank goodness next week I have two weeks off!!!

Please writers if you're writing about a particular show - find out how to spell the major character's names. Please for god's sake learn how to use apostrophes and the difference between to and too; the two(ha) words are quite different you know...

Yes instead of writing my various wips or writing my fics for the ficathons I've signed up for I've been reading fanfic :) I love it, but couldn't folks edit their stuff?

In other news - 5 weeks since my gas bottles started leaking, I'm still waiting for hot water. Having cold showers in winter is no fun, and I'm very grateful to my neighbour who lets us use her shower every day. We're quite a sight, walking up the street with our pjs, towels, soap and shampoo!!!!

My renovations in the little guy's room continue and the bed arrives next week. I'm feeling pretty proud of my efforts at laying the new floor and can't wait to see the finished product.

How's everyone else doing?

Of course I'm all about preserving historic resources, so maybe I'm regarding this too bitterly? I wish I was some rich Hollywood type so I could buy it all and preserve it *sigh*

After watching the little guy fall off his bed every night, I've decided to buy a double bed for his room.

Of course, to me, that means - time for a whole room change.

As well as the bed; I'm painting the old shelves and buying some new ones and am doing a new floor. The carpet is coming up and floating floorboards are going down...

Before the carpet comes up I have to move furniture, which means of course I have to clean out the cupboards, shelves and too many toy boxes!

So tonight we cleaned out the cupboard and got rid of all the stuff I've been storing. All the little guy's paintings (he was at daycare for 5 years before school), Easter egg baskets, craft objects, birthday cards - everything. We kept the report cards and a couple of drawings and everything else went into the bin.

And I'm sad - he's 10 and he's growing up :(

More about the gas bottles. The plumber rang yesterday and they can't replace the part till possibly Tuesday! It's only Saturday today.

Since my washing machine only works with the hot water on, I'm lucky my neighbour let me use hers and her shower too! Having a cold shower (in what passes for winter here) before going out yesterday didn't make me happy :)

The upside I guess is; we won't be here Sunday and Monday. It's a long weekend so we've got a soccer carnival up north of us, which means a night at a motel - and hot water! *dances* I like hot water...

The date has again passed for me to enter the latest short story competition. I have three stories, edited to death and ready to go. But do I send them?

No *grrrrrr*.

I got home last night and found my gas bottles leaking. I got blisters turning the taps off, which didn't work, and finally had to ring the plumber. He turned up and disconnected the bottles, so we have had no hot water and I couldn't cook any dinner on the stove and of course will have to pay to get the problem fixed...During all this, the power went off for over an hour too...
