ewwwwwwwwww!
We share a building with the local TAFE (community college0 and recently we've had problems with the public toilets. Folks keep doing yucky things in there (I'm not saying anything else - ick!), especially after school hours. so the decision was made to lock said toilets after 3pm and folks have to ask for the key. This doesn't please me much because it's us that's going to be asked, ad infinitum, for the key between 3pm and when we close, but I went along with it.

Anyway today the notices went up on the toilet doors saying they would be locked from 3pm. so at 2pm one of my customers comes and tells me there's pee in the foyer and yep sure enough there was! Obviously someone read the sign, couldn't tell the time and were desperate (?) and pissed up against the wall! It ran down the wall and across the tiles and guess who had to clean it up...?

ramble
Lately I've been slowly learning how to use my Paint shop program. Thanks to [info]xx_squish_xx (The lovely squish is constantly badgered for help via email) for helping me initially and all those icon makers who answer my questions at the icon comms! :D

Despite the fact I still can't use the brush feature, I think I'm improving finally! Soon you will be subjected to an icon dump of all my attempts. Run and hide now! *grins* But right now I'm going to post a couple of banners from [info]joss_stills and the icons to go with them.Read more... )

In other news. I'm back at work after 2 weeks off and busier than ever. My new position and acquisition of new staff means a lot of re-arrangement for all concerned and it's Book Week as well this week. That means lots of story-reading/craft activities - thank god for [info]bookishtype's creativity!!

Quick ramble
It's back to work today after 5 weeks off. I'll be on gmail chat on and off all day *hints*.

My first task will be to do the budget for the coming year - cross your fingers that the PTBs actually let me have some of the stuff I ask for!!!!!!!!!

My second task will be the perennial fight to get myself re-graded. This one is very important and I'll be whinging about this a lot :D

Lastly - hopefully I'll get my belated con report up today. I'm going to scan our official photos today at work. My photo with Adam was terrible (I'm in it), but the little guy's one is awesome.

Yes I'm at work two days before I'm due to fly out - I'm trying to catch up with the never-ending deluge before leaving.

Her lawman on call

Diagnosis danger

Bunking down with the boss

From Mission to marriage

A Texas Christmas

The bridesmaid's gift

And for your laughing pleasure - the book summary for From Mission to marriage

Vanessa senses that Clay is hunting for more than just a killer. Accustomed to taming wild animals, she thinks she can tackle both his needs. But as the hunt grows deadly and passions flare, Vanessa faces her most challenging assignment – turning this temporary mission into a lifelong marriage.

Whew!
Our Christmas Eve rush is over! *wipes brow*. It's 1.00pm and only the die-hard internet users are here. Even our resident children have disappeared and we are thankful :D

People were lined up at the door this morning for two reasons.

1. They wanted to get all their messages done and be home out of the heat. (yesterday it was 36 degrees celsius (96.5), with accompanying humidity).

and

2. They had to get their book fix because, OMG!, we're closed for 10 days!

Now I love books as much as the next man, check out my user name for god's sake, but some people act as if they're throats are cut when we announce the annual closing...So this morning we had people taking out the maximum amount of loans allowed, people asking for extensions, people desperately asking for more than 2 dvds at a time and people bringing us Christmas gifts :)

Our lovely customers have supplied us with enough eatables to make our drinks after work a real party!!!

I'll be thinking of you all while I have my one (I'm always the driver) alcoholic drink of the season!

Now I'm off to write, sneakily of course, the Pr0n Chadrea I've been promising [info]ladytalon1 fic as well!!!

Some more Romance titles
I'm cataloguing Romance books today so check out the titles, plus one back-of-the-book blurb...

Their lost-and-found family

The Magic of Christmas

Caring for his baby

The billionaire’s captive bride

The Spaniard’s defiant virgin

The Boss’s double trouble twins

Winter roses

The Italian billionaire’s Christmas miracle

What I want to know - is how come there's so many Billionaires? I've never met one yet...

The blurb
Domenico Silvaggio d’Avalos (check out the swanky name!) knows that the beautiful, unworldly Canadian who begged him to teach her the art of vine-growing (why didn’t she get a book, or look it up on the internet?) isn’t mistress material (do mistresses still exist?)< but might Arlene Russel be suitable as a wife? (Suitable????? WTF?) In the sumptuous surroundings of a top Paris hotel (no budget accommodation needed here. Obviously she’s not that unworldly), Arlene proves she has courage – and a passion to match his own. (What she do? Refuse to go to bed with him?)

There’s more but I can’t stand to type it…

An extract from a random page

"Domenico!" she sobbed, urging him past caution with hands grown clever in their desperation. Opening her legs wide, she pulled him on top of her with superhuman strength, and guided him to where her flesh throbbed and ached for his complete possession.

People get paid for this and countless people read it *sigh*.

Busy and rambling as usual
Frogs are scary! I like looking at them, but when they jump on me in the darkness it freaks me out. It's been raining the last couple of days and we are innundated by them! They decorate my window, come in the door with the dog (The little guy has his work cut out, catching them before they're covered in dust and dog fur), and jump at me when I'm hanging the washing out! LOL

*deep breath* We've been busy all week at work learning the new computer system. I hope my brain can handle all the new knowledge! Tomorrow I learn all the managerial stuff - wish me luck!

I got my new computer today! *dances* I've spent half the night setting it up and it's getting there. I can't wait to get it all up and running. If anyone can tell me how to find out my connection details without sitting on the phone for hours - let me know!!

You've got to laugh
This is my second day back at work and I've been cataloguing, among other things, some romance fiction. The titles just make me laugh -

Seven-year seduction

The Italian Doctor's perfect family

The Sicilian's Red-hot revenge

The Ruthless Marriage Proposal

The Desert King's virgin bride

And the historical/hysterical titles (it makes me long for Georgette Heyer)

The Defiant mistress

The Abducted heiress

The Vagabond Duchess

Some things are always the same
It’s our first day back at work since just before Christmas. There was a line up of folks outside who’ve been deprived of books for 10 days, it’s about 90 degrees outside and more in here – and the air-conditioning isn’t working!!!

We don’t have any water either which means the restrooms aren’t working and the automatic doors don’t like the heat and keep opening and closing. It’s the beginning of a typical year at the library. It’s nice to know that some things never change…
